The DES-3225G Standalone Ethernet switch is part of a new
generation of Ethernet switches from D-Link adding rich
functionality and wire-speed performance at the edge of
networks with Ethernet backbones. Designed for flexible and
cost-effective network growth, it offers more than just port
expandability — it offers an impressive range of software
features at an aggressive price point. The DES-3225G is part
of a new family of switches that is the perfect complement to
D-Link's family of multi-Gigabit Ethernet switches. D-Link now
offers customers an end-to-end solution for an all-Ethernet
architecture with the industry-leading performance of the
DES-5600 or DES-6000 in the core and the rich feature set,
easy management and low total cost of ownership of the
DES-3225G, and DES-3624 Series at the edge.
DES-3225G - Standalone Ethernet Switch
The DES-3225G has a base configuration of 24 10/100TX
ports, 2 of which are on a option module that can be replaced
with 100Base-FX connections. In the back of the DES-3225G
is a further high-performance expansion port which supports
either a single port 1000BaseSX option module.
Flexibility
The DES-3225G base unit offers 24 ports of 10/100TX. Two
ports on the front of the device there is a can be swapped to
one of the following options:
Option Modules
DES-362FM - 2 port 100BaseFX (MT-RJ)
DES-361FX - 1 port 100BaseFX (SC)
There is one port on the rear of the unit, for an optional
gigabit module, the DES-321G, for a full gigabit uplink to
a server or even the backbone of your network.
12,000 MAC addresses: By supporting up to 12K MAC
addresses, the DES-3225G switch has the flexibility of
being used to connect end users directly, or as a switch
between shared media devices (e.g. dual speed hubs).
Auto-negotiating: Automatically detects and sets the
speed, duplex, and flow-control for any 10Base-T or
100Base-TX port.
Standards-Based Software
The DES-3225G supports a broad range of the latest IEEE
Ethernet standards offering the highest levels of functionality
and easy interoperability with other vendors' equipment.
Quality of Service (802.1p): Allows the switch to
prioritize specific traffic flows over others.
VLAN Identification (802.1Q): Allows the switch to
direct traffic based on non-proprietary virtual local area
networks (VLANs).
Spanning Tree (802.1d): Standards-based link
redundancy protocol that allows redundant links to be
established to backup primary link while preventing
network loops.
Flow Control (802.3x): Helps monitor and regulate
inbound switch traffic to ensure that traffic levels can
be handled by the switch.
IP multicast (IGMP): IP multicast traffic standard.
Broadcast Storm control, with SNMP management trap and
user configurable threshold.
High Performance
The DES-3225G is a wire-speed, non-blocking Ethernet
switch. It also has the following features to enhance network
performance:
Link aggregation for higher switch-to-switch
throughput and link-level redundancy, including support
for Cisco Fast EtherChannel.
Gigabit Ethernet: The rear high-speed expansion port
of the DES-3225G supports single port versions of the
1000Base-SX expansion module.
Manageability
Web management: Allows you to configure the switch
from any PC on the network with a Web browser.
SNMP management: Industry standard enterprise
network management support.
Mini-RMON (groups 1,2,3,9): Provides advanced
monitoring capabilities.
Port mirroring: Allows the network administrator to
monitor traffic on one port using another switched port
attached to a network analyzer.
Warranty
D-Link offers a 1-year warranty on all DES-3225G Models.
